How cool! I would love to have your commute, I adore ferries. I remember visiting Hong Kong for 4 days (in order to get a Japanese student visa, long story...) and taking the Star Ferry across the bay as often as humanly possible.
Needless to say, my commute is a lot less fun - walk to the S-bahn station if I have time and it's not raining, otherwise take the bus, then the S-bahn heads underground for a few stops before I get off to connect to the - you guessed it - equally underground U-bahn. I tend to keep the headphones on and be fairly unconscious of what I pass... although the big old building with "Technische Gummiwaren" just outside the local station does make me smile.
