I have a new article up on Null Hypothesis. It's called Christmas Nuts, and it's a careful, in-depth analysis of seasonal psychiatric problems. Not.

This was an interesting one, as it's the fastest article I've written. The idea was suggested by the Null's editorial team. I wrote some notes on the ferry, bashed out a first draft after work in Borders, left it overnight, fiddled a bit in the morning, and sent it off.

The idea is to train myself to get articles out fast, and to show myself that I'm capable of writing publishable work quickly, which is the only way you'll ever make any kind of living from journalism.

It's not my best work, I'm sure, but this article was only ever going to be seasonal fluff anyway, even if I'd sat and worked at it for days on end, so it was a good one to experiment with. My editor said she was giggling at it around her mince pie, so I'd call that a success :)

In other news, I shall do more of an update once I've got my Christmas cards out the door. I was going to do it last night, but my body had other ideas and demanded ten hours' sleep. Luckily I won't be at work until next year now!
