Still behind, but feeling okay

No words today, for the first day since the beginning of NaNoWriMo. And I was behind in the first place. On the other hand, just had a very nice dinner at Budokan with Nicki, a friend who's already written one novel and is working on the second, and is currently doing a writing course. Described what I'd got so far, which in itself sparked all sorts of ideas, and got some nice ideas for directions and future scenes, and some good advice about how to figure out your characters in a way that leads to plot.

On the whole, not bad, and a good way to go into a weekend where I might have some chance to catch up. On the other hand, to get back from behind, I have to have have about 9,000 more words done by the end of Sunday, which is a bit of a tall order when you don't really know what your next scene is going to be.

I have just bought some proper, non-decaf coffee. I might need it.
