So, Western Power were coming at noon. I figured I'd better go out and buy lunch so I don't have to wait until they finished their job. I get most of the way up the hill into Clifton Village and realise I've forgotten my wallet.

Arse.

So, I come all the way back home, and find a Western Power van reversing into a spot outside my flat, at about 10:45. Lucky I forgot my wallet, really...

I love how they say that they will be there at one time and end up getting there at an altogether different time. Mind you, early is better than late, but still.
Good thing, indeed, that you forgot your wallet.
Back when we were having issues with our internet, Comcast, our ISP, said they were coming between 8 and 4:30 on a particular day. They never showed, so we called and they said that it could be between those times within the next week. Good grief.
It's because they know we'll wait and that they have the upper hand that they do those sorts of things...

Hope everything got fixed and that they didn't laugh at you, as you mentioned they might do in a previous post....

Yeah, I really should have known better, although with these people it seemed like a standard communication problem, with the guys in the van not having any idea what the guys in the office had said to me. With the cable TV people I get the impression that they're doing it deliberately...
