So, like, is it normal for a new washing machine to smell quite strongly of burning plastic on its first few cycles? Or should I be starting to worry?

Date: 2006-10-05 08:01 pm (UTC)The good news is that it's now doing its third load, and there's no smell at all, apart from that nice launderette fresh-tumbling-clothes smell. So, whether there was some errant polystyrene beads that have now finished evaporating on hot machinery, or whether it was something else entirely, it seems to be fine now. And it does its job well.
Although I'd forgotten that clothes have a tendency to shrink when tumble-dried. Some of my T-shirts are now a bit more fitted than they were yesterday. Hmm. Time to start that diet, I think.
