Actually, a question...

How closely does your box resemble the 'this week's box' list (on the website/bit of paper in the box)?

It's normally pretty accurate, as far as I can tell, but I don't check every week. I've rarely been surprised by anything when I have checked, and I check fairly often because I like to know if I'll need to buy accompanying stuff.

This week's Essential Plus fruit box, now I look, has a coconut rather than a pineapple, but everything else was what it should have been, so that was six out of seven and only one actual piece of fruit that was different.

I guess they can't always match the supply and demand exactly (I only decided to order the fruit box last week, when they'd already published what was in it, for starters, so I guess they didn't have time to get enough pineapples...)

Have you had lots of wrong things delivered? I suppose there could be regional variations in their supply/competence; I don't know how they're set up, really... They do seem friendly and eager to please, though, so I'd give 'em a bell or drop them a mail if they're screwing up, and I'd expect good service.

Well, the list on the site and the slip of paper in the box was (for Small Deluxe Veg) aubergine, avocado, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, courgettes, flat beans, red onions and parsnips.

What we got was courgettes, red onions, plum tomatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, a cauliflower, and what we think are some beetroot and either a swede or a turnip but we'll have to wash all the dried earth off it first.

I'll give it a few weeks and see how it goes, but himself was definitely unimpressed seen the price of the box. Must find some kind of roast root veg recipe...

Oooh. I hate it when I recommend people and then they get stuff wrong. I'm sorry to hear that. I switched from Riverford because they kept delivering lots of the same (crap quality, often on-the-turn) root vegetables all winter, but Abel & Cole have been much better for me. Plus they have better "I don't like this, don't deliver it again" functionality, which seems to have been working so far (no more Jerusalem artichokes! Joy!)
