Today, in Richard Herring's slice of OCD daily writing, Warming Up, he links to Gavrilo Princip's Wikipedia entry.

I've not gone into any detail on this crucial moment in history before. My favourite bit has to be the spectacular failure of one of the other would-be assassins, Nedeljko Čabrinović, after his hand grenade failed to hit its target...
To avoid capture, Čabrinović swallowed a cyanide pill and jumped into the River Miljacka to make sure he died. The cyanide pill was very old and made him vomit and the River Miljacka was only 4 inches deep. A few seconds later he was hauled out and detained by police.

You couldn't make it up, could you? One of the most important events in human history, leading directly to the first World War, and it could've been scripted by the 'Allo 'Allo! team...
