Quaint

I just got a letter from a local jeweller's chain[1] giving me an estimate for a repair I want done. So I called them up. I got through in a couple of rings[2] -- but no, I can't give them the go-ahead over the phone; I actually have to tear off the strip from the bottom of the letter and send it back to them. In an era where I can arrange a mortgage or book a round-the-world holiday over the phone, this seems just a tad old-fashioned.

I wonder if they'll accept biro on this repair authorisation slip, or if I should sharpen my quill...
